Ethos
Olivia knew she wanted to teach music the moment she walked into her junior high band room. Her first musical experiences were joyful, safe, and community-oriented; her goal as a teacher is to provide the same encouraging and lighthearted environment for her students. Olivia believes in the transformative power of music for every student, regardless of their age, background, prior knowledge, or experience level.
Her private teaching practice is informed by her diverse experiences, both as a Brass Teaching Artist with YONA-Sistema, and as a junior high band teacher with Edmonton Catholic Schools. Her excitement to share, make, and teach music to school-aged students has deepened since taking on these roles.
Olivia’s technical mastery of all-things-music is backed by her Bachelor of Music, which she received in 2023 from the University of Alberta. Her zest and talent for teaching are bolstered by her Bachelor of Education from Campus Saint Jean, 2020.
